2011 Youth Summer Program (by the Makeshift Collective)
from mid-May to July 2011

An open-call to all high school students in the GTA/York-Region area!

The Makeshift Collective is launching a summer program for high school students that allows an opportunity to get involved with incredibly passionate and inspiring university students and young professionals. Our goal is to inspire and develop strong creative skills that can be applied to all aspects of life regardless of field of academic study, or industry of choice.

Our goal is also to promote our Makeshift philosophy: “learning through doing”. We believe that the most effective way to rapidly expand your set of skills, expand your network, is by participating within inspiring projects. Through our summer program, students will be able to expose themselves to a wide range of multi-disciplinary projects, work with a range of creative individuals from different educational backgrounds, to expose themselves to a creative work ethic that can be applied to any future personal projects.

The Makeshift Collective consists of a network of young professionals and university students with backgrounds in architectural design, industrial design, and graphic design, as well as professional photographers, artists, film makers, poets, musicians, social entrepreneurs, and business program graduates

Projects will range from short films (music videos, documentaries, short stores), to exploring musical creations, brainstorming activities, concept-to-final design projects, and plenty more. Also with our access to plenty of recent art and design student graduates – we also offer the more traditional visual art projects (drawing, sketching, painting) for students working on university applications that require a portfolio of artwork.
