Did someone say shopping?
Updates: Looks like we’re down another member as Cristina won’t be able to help us anymore. Aside from that… who knew the design process would involve SO much shopping! We visited Home Depot, searching for ways of lighting our project – flashlights were supposed to be used for lighting our mannequins—but potential technical difficulties modified our plans. We also searched for spotlights, but not much luck. On a positive note, we’ve found a solution for our reflective “mirror-like” sheets and my apologies to anyone in Ottawa hoping to buy a thermal blanket in the near future! This cheap, durable, and aesthetically pleasing material proved to be exactly what we had in mind and sadly we had to clean out a few Canadian tire stores to get enough of them.
As for the lighting dilemma, I managed to score a used light chaser from Martin Sound which will be perfect for the timing of the spotlights over the urinals. We’ve also rented lights from them, so we’re good to go!
In the meantime…
In our breaks between shopping excursions we’ve been working on our mannequins for the women’s washroom (and a lot of hands to form a few ‘hand-chandeliers’). We’ve developed a lovely technique (with thanks to Matt and his studio project!) by wrapping ceran wrap around a person and reinforcing it with packing tape.
Cheers,
Jadeg
